Fall 2011 Newsletter

Dear Dancers and Parents,

     Welcome both new and returning students to another year of dance. Already the dancers are lookin’ good!  Thank you for supporting my dance program. Becky, Dallas, Heather, Janet, Mari, Tracee and I truly enjoy our time with your dancer. The experience gained in dance class benefits the body as well as the mind, heart and soul of the dancer.

     Here are a couple of reminders:

·         It’s a good idea to put names or initials inside dance shoes. Having a dance bag to keep shoes together is helpful J 

·         Help your dancer follow the dress code! Dancers must wear a leotard and tights to class (except for musical theater and hip-hop) And quit blaming your mother that she hasn’t done the laundry in months!!

·         Shorts on top are okay for jazz, tap and modern classes.

·         Hair needs to be tied back and no gum please.

·         Establish a comfortable pick-up situation – BE CAREFUL in the parking lot!

·         Do not park parallel to the highway! You need to pull up toward the building.

·         Even stopping and waiting parallel to the highway creates a problem. Cars get backed up on the highway and those in parking spots can’t back up enough to get out.

·         There are more parking places on the left side of the building and we are working on improving the situation.

·         Car-pooling is very helpful!

·         Check the website for updates and calendar info. The bulletin board has good info too!

·         Hip-Hop dancers – please carry the shoes you are going to take class in and wear other shoes to and from the studio. We don’t want tiny rocks and street dirt on the floors.

·         In case of bad weather or holiday break check the web or call the studio answering machine at 724-465-8455.

·         The Lost and Found always has lots of great stuff!

     Nicole Myers did a great job getting the dancers fitted for shoes and dancewear. If you are still in need you can email her at njmyers99@yahoo.com. We are trying to finish up the Fall order before the end of the month - thanks!

Cam-Ron Video did an outstanding job recording the show this past year. I can still have copies made if you forgot to order. Please let me know by the end of the month!!!

EFT

This month I am expecting to run the EFT on the 21st - it will probably come out of your account a day or so later. Future months, I am expecting to run it on or around the 10th.

Ballroom Basics and Social Dancing- Level 1

This three week dance class is designed to enable a couple to enjoy dancing with their partner while learing basic dance patterns and techniques for Slow Dancing and Swing/Jitterbug. Everyone will learn one or two patterns for Foxtrot, Waltz and the East Coast Swing. The intructors, Paul and Jeanie Jucha are experienced dance instructors and members of the Indiana Ballroom Dance Club.

Cost: $60 per couple.

Introduction to Latin Dancing

This three week dance class, also taught by Paul and Jeanie, focuses on the introduction to Latin dancing. The participants will be introduced to beginner patterns and techniques for Rumba, ChaCha and Salsa.

Cost: $60 per couple

Note: These classes are designed for couples. Students should wear comfortable clothing and shoes with a smooth sole. Athletic shoes are not recommended.

Location: Sue Hewitt Dance Studio     

Times: Basic Level 1: 6:00-7:00pm

Intro to Latin 7:15-8:15pm

Dates: Saturdays, October 8, 15, 29
